The European Commission has officially launched a new AI Act Whistleblower Tool — a secure channel enabling individuals to report suspected breaches of the AI Act directly to the EU AI Office, the central authority responsible for enforcement and oversight.
The tool supports confidential submissions in any EU official language, uses encryption, and allows whistleblowers to securely receive updates while maintaining full anonymity.

✅ Secure Reporting
The system offers individuals a protected way to report:
➡️ unlawful deployment of high-risk AI systems,
➡️ safety violations,
➡️ misuse of biometric systems,
➡️ risks to health, security, or fundamental rights, manipulation, discrimination, or non-compliance with transparency rules, use of banned AI technologies.
✅ Confidentiality
The platform provides:
➡️ encrypted communication,
➡️ secure message exchange,
➡️ progress updates,
➡️ the ability to answer follow-up questions without revealing identity.
✅ A Direct Line
Whistleblowers can report directly to the entity responsible for:
➡️ monitoring AI Act compliance,
➡️ conducting investigations,
➡️ coordinating with national supervisory authorities,
➡️ issuing corrective measures or sanctions.
This is another important step in operationalizing the AI Act and strengthening the enforcement ecosystem around AI in Europe. It also shows the EU’s focus on transparency and citizen involvement. I will be monitoring how the EU AI Office uses this mechanism as enforcement begins to ramp up.
